The Reason Why I Keep a Bucket List

From the beginning to the end of our existence we all wish for something to happen or something to fulfill either our dreams, passions or ambitions. We have this list of things that mean the world to us if they would happen in our lifetime. This list varies from person to person obviously since every personality thinks differently and has diverse wishes. It doesn’t matter whether those wishes are small or big, what matters is the impact that they have on each one of our lives. It what they mean to us that matters.

Now the list of things on our bucket list don’t really have to be logical according to the current circumstances that we live in. For example if someone is poor then it does not mean that he or she can’t dream about things or have wishes on his or her bucket list which are beyond their approach at that time. This is because bucket lists have things that you want to do over the span of your life. They are not meant to be fulfilled all at once in the present. In fact they are your motivation for moving forward towards a future that supports your wishes, dreams and ambitions.

This is partially the reason why I keep a bucket list. It acts as a support system for my future. I know what I want to do and I know how to do it. This only happens when you have dreams on your bucket list that you genuinely are passionate about. That is when you are ready to work towards them with hard work and patience. Thus your bucket list will actually aid you to polish the following skills:

  • Hard work
  • Passion
  • Optimism
  • Perseverance
  • Patience
  • Strength
  • Gratitude

The idea of a bucket list has always sounded interesting to me because I liked to see how people would keep a track of their dreams by keeping a bucket list. It seemed fun and as I grew up I apprehended that I also wanted to do that. So as a child I used to write in my diary. Pretty similar to how many other children also used to do it. As I grew up I realized that I did not really have to write my dreams down to remember them. The passion with which I had a specific dream would already engrave that dream in my conscious and subconsciousness. That is now my bucket list and it is a progressive list. Whatever I see and feel like I have or want to do, it is added to the list.

However it is not just adding to the list that matters. Fulfillment also matters. You have to keep on pushing and working your way towards the dreams and wishes that you have listed down for yourself. This list should keep you motivated and inspired to move forward and work harder towards your goals and remember it is a collective and progressive work.

“The question isn’t who is going to let me; it’s who is going to stop me.”
